Congress has considered a reduction in payments for Physicians in the Mediicare Program for a number of years. It has been postponed regularly. Now they...FOR  MORE CLICK TITLE...they have once again funded physicians who provide Medicare services and put off how to balance both the costs and services which Medicare pays. This is a challenging problem for which physicians are not at fault. The costs of health care overall(including physician's services) is very high(we have a higher cost of health care per person in the USA than anywhere in the World). All of that impacts Medicare which is a part of American health care and not separate from it. Recently, there have been a number of proposals to modify Medicare which may be considered by the next Congress and the President. It is unclear how effective any of them will be if we do not look at how to make health care for all of us more cost effective.
