CAREGIVERSHOME has conducted an on-line survey about the challenges which face caregivers.

Visitors to their web site were asked to respond to the following question: "As an elder-caregiver, my greatest challenge is_ _ _".

The top challenges were the following:

1. Need more help from family members- nearly 20 %
2. General lack of resources - 17 %
3. Avoiding caregiver burnout - 12.7 %
4. Finding time for their family and themselves - 10.2 %
5. Balancing a job with caregiving - 9.3 %
6. Receiving financial assistance while caring for an elderly parent - 9.3 %

Other challenges which were mentioned in the survey included:

• Avoiding depression
• Taking better care of themselves while caregiving
• Finding more time to perform caregiving
• Understanding how to be a better caregiver
